April is National Poetry Month

Today is the first day of National Poetry Month. It's sure to be a fun time here in the library media center. We are planning events like a Poetry Slam, Poem in Your Pocket Day (April 24) and other events.

Here are a few sites to get started:

Poets.org includes ideas for Poem in Your Pocket Day, sign-up for a poem a day, and the Poet-2-Poet Project. It also includes a section on how to Find a Poem.

Scholastic has lesson plans, poet guest readers, and other ideas on their website to celebrate the month.
